Castiglione and The Mill

The nearest airport is Pisa - an hour and 30 minutes drive away, which is served by many of the low cost airlines - Ryanair,and Easyjet - as well as some of the more traditional airlines.

Good Train links from Castelnuovo to Lucca

In the summer the region hosts many traditional food festivals – celebrating
traditional cuisine from porchetta to polenta. There are many very good
reasonably priced restaurants offering home cooked regional cuisine within
a 20 min radius of the Mill.

The nearest town to Il Mulino is Castiglione is a medieval walled town about 10 minutes drive away. Here can be found bars, restaurants, small local shops and a bank. A perfect place for a cappuccino and an ice cream walking on the walls overlooking the views of the Garfagnana hills and mountains.

Castelnuovo is a large town about 20 minutes away with a large weekly market and and plenty of shops. Barga is about 30 minutes away - famous for its opera festival in the summer.

The historic walled city of Lucca an hour away - a city full of art and culture. A perfect day can be spent exploring Lucca, eating at one of the renowned restaurants and cycling on the medieval walls.
